Help!! (deflasking/mtps)
Hello fellow orchid collectors, i would like to request your knowledge on the dreaded theme of deflasking..
I have managed to get a flask of miltoniopsis, they are lovely and all, and there are like 20 - 30 seedlings in the flask (imagine that!!), i'm pretty scared sh1tle55 of deflasking them. Besides, there is great siaprity of size.. some are like 3-4 inches high with leaves and bulbs clearly formed and others are barely past protocorm stage.
On this matter, i've had very good luck with deflasking cattleyas, but i tried dendrobiums and lost all.. mainly due to a highly inconsistent watering habit.
I'd like to ask your opinion on this matter, all you can tell me about the miltoniopsis seedlings (i.e. preferred media, light, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.
I have looked in google, and many orchid forums but i really find no answer for this specific matter, so please, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Have a nice day.
P.S.
The media i have available are
-Sphagnum moss
-Lava rock
-Sponge rock
-Hydroton (LECA) (i use semihydro a lot)
-Coconut Husk Chips
-T-Rex Jungle Bed (CHC, Jungle bed, vermiculite, calci sand) this is actually for reptiles but I've used it with some Lycastes and have had good results, is airy, holds some water and looks resistant.. your opinions?)
